Steel Benders

If you stop and take a look around you at many of todays modern structures you might be surprised to see how many of them are constructed using steel framework. One more thing that you might notice is how many of them are made from steel "I" beams that are curved into a variety of shapes to create aesthetically pleasing structures. To take a steel "I" beam that is manufactured to be as straight as ruler and curve it into shape very specific types of steel benders must be used. You cannot simply take a steel beam and heat it up to shape it, the steel benders used are designed to slowly roll the beam under immense pressure and create the required curve. This is similar to the curved ball and press used in automotive factories to make the sheet metal parts before the advent of the sheet metal forming press that is still placed today.

With steel beams you cannot use this type of forming press as building such a machine is not financially viable. When you were a kid, chances are that you got to be a steel bender on a much smaller scale as you bent and twisted paper clips and pipe cleaners into a variety of shapes. However, nothing you ever created was going to be responsible for holding the roof of an entire football stadium up. Today's architecture calls for shapes and bends that can only be created by bending huge beams into the required shape. One of reasons for this is that by rolling a beam into the new shape you do not create any risk of stress damage and create a new shape that is often stronger than the original straight beam. Using a rolling steel bender is considered by experts to be the best known way of bending any type of steel from sheets and beams to pipes.

Using this method can create the new shape without the use of heat, which can adversely affect the structural integrity of the metal, which is something that has to be avoided at all costs when you are relying on the beam to hold the roof over a stadium full of screaming fans up. Of course you can use heat to speed the process with certain metals and most steel benders are equipped to work with both hot and cold metals to ensure that the actual structure of the metal itself is not damaged while it is being bent. This of bending steel is considered to be one of the lowest priced methods as it requires less set up time and often uses pre made dies to help guarantee the steel is bent to the right shape. When your next design is ready to be constructed and you need the services of one of best steel benders in the Pacific Northwest contact Albina Pipe Bending. Not only can they bend pipe, but with the equipment they have the can bend sheet metal, beams and most other forms of metal into practically any shape you might need for your project.
